Your Cat's Surgery

titleYour Cat's Surgery at Abbeywood Cat Hospital

Under the leadership of Dr. William Barclay, a board certified veterinary surgeon specializing in feline surgery, the Abbeywood team of veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and assistants offers a wide variety of soft tissue and orthopedic surgical procedures. Orthopedic procedures include fracture repair and joint surgeries; soft tissue surgeries include gastrointestinal, urogenital, and oncologic (cancer) procedures as well as more routine procedures such as spays, neuters and declaws.

Before surgery, each patient receives a thorough physical examination to help identify any medical conditions that might endanger his/her health. Because not all problems can be detected by examination alone, pre-anesthetic blood testing is recommended. These tests not only provide a more complete picture of your cat's health, but also allow us to tailor an anesthetic regime for your cat.

We are equipped with anesthetic machines that offer safe inhalant anesthesia. Our patients are monitored continuously throughout anesthesia utilizing extensive monitoring devices, including Doppler blood pressure and pulse oximetry.

Pain management is also a significant part of our pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative anesthetic protocols.
