Spay/Neuter

At Abbeywood Cat Hospital we encourage spaying and neutering cats around six months of age, providing significant medical and behavioral benefits that contribute to a longer, healthier life for your cat.

Spaying and neutering effectively eliminates the risk of testicular, ovarian, and uterine cancers. In addition, spaying female cats before their first heat cycle drastically reduces the likelihood of developing breast cancer, which is unfortunately commonly very aggressive in cats.

Spaying and neutering greatly reduces behavioral issues such as roaming, fighting, and urine marking making your cat a happier home companion. It also is an essential part of managing our pet overpopulation problem, and helps cats in kittens already in shelters find a forever home.
