Vaccinations

At Abbeywood Cat Hospital, we take appropriate and risk based vaccination seriously, and follow the Feline Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA) guidelines to ensure your cat’s health is protected. Cats’ immune systems are unique, and it’s essential to use vaccines formulated with cats’ unique needs in mind, prioritizing safety and efficacy. Whenever possible, we follow a three-year vaccination protocol to minimize the lifetime number of vaccines, but also to feel confident your cat’s vaccine is protective.

Rabies vaccination is important for your cat’s health as well as public safety. In Illinois, rabies most frequently found in bats and skunks, and accidental contact with a bat in the home is the most common reason for rabies exposure.

At Abbeywood, we proudly only offer the only vaccine on the market without an ingredient called an adjuvant, which was found to cause rare but severe complications as vaccination for dogs and cats for rabies became more common in the 70’s. We know safety is just as important as protection.
